Daniela Dwyer Foundation Wins Spirit of Impact Award at 2026 Lifeline Spirit of Canberra Awards

The Daniela Dwyer Foundation (DDF) has been honoured with the Spirit of Impact Award at the 2026 Lifeline Spirit of Canberra Awards, held on Wednesday, 28 October.

The Spirit of Impact Award recognises organisations using their position to create positive change, drive progress and leave a measurable mark on their communities.

For DDF, the award was an unexpected and incredibly meaningful acknowledgement of the Foundation's mission to transform how brain cancer is monitored and treated, with the potential to improve outcomes for patients with other cancers as well.

Advancing Groundbreaking Research

Since its establishment in 2022, DDF has helped advance Professor Sudha Rao's groundbreaking Digital Liquid Biopsy Platform, which aims to enable more personalised cancer treatment through a simple blood test. The Foundation also supports a compassionate access program, providing patients with access to emerging technology, and funds important research into drug toxicity to improve treatment effectiveness and quality of life.

Clinician Education Grants

Looking ahead, DDF will soon launch its Clinician Education Grants, supporting the education and professional development of Australian clinicians to accelerate the adoption of emerging cancer technologies. Fittingly, this initiative was developed in Canberra in collaboration with local oncologists.

“This recognition is an incredible honour and reinforces why we started the Foundation — to create meaningful, tangible change in cancer treatment and give patients and their families more time.”

Celebrating Canberra's Most Inspiring

The Foundation extends its sincere thanks to Lifeline Canberra and its supporting partners for this wonderful initiative and the opportunity to celebrate some of Canberra's most inspiring individuals and organisations, many of whom are quietly making an extraordinary difference.

Congratulations to all fellow nominees, finalists and award winners. We are incredibly proud to be recognised alongside you.

This award is a powerful reminder that even a small foundation, driven by a deeply personal mission, can make a lasting impact.
